Shipping Information
Order Processing
All orders are processed within 1-2 business days after payment confirmation. During peak seasons, please allow up to 3 business days for processing.
Shipping Methods
We offer two reliable shipping options to deliver your Märklin digital systems, Atlas Model Railroad Co. releases, and other premium collectibles:
- Standard Shipping:
- Carrier: DHL or FedEx
- Cost: $12.95 USD
- Delivery Time: 10-15 business days after shipment
- Includes tracking and insurance up to $100
- Free Shipping:
- Carrier: EMS
- Available for orders over $50 USD
- Delivery Time: 15-25 business days after shipment
- Basic tracking included
Note for International Collectors: We ship worldwide except to certain Asian countries and remote regions. International customers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes. Please mark “Returned Goods” clearly on any return packages to avoid additional charges.
Returns & Exchanges Policy
At Alas Train Model Shop, we understand that model railroad collectors demand perfection. Our returns process reflects the same meticulous attention to detail we apply when curating our collection of Athearn locomotives, Bachmann starter sets, and Broadway Limited Imports.
Eligibility Requirements
- Timeframe: 15 days from delivery date
- Condition: Unused, in original packaging with all tags and accessories
- Proof of Purchase: Original invoice or order number required
Non-Returnable Items
Due to their collector-grade nature, the following items cannot be returned unless defective:
- LGB garden railway sets removed from original packaging
- Broadway Limited Imports locomotives removed from original packaging
- Custom-ordered items (including special runs of Tangent Scale Models)
- Opened digital content
Step-by-Step Return Process
- Initiate Your Request:
Email our support team at [email protected] within 15 days of delivery. Include your order number and reason for return.
- Receive Authorization:
We’ll respond within 2 business days with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and instructions.
- Package Securely:
Repack the item in its original packaging with all protective materials. Include a copy of your invoice.
- Ship Your Return:
Send to our Oklahoma City facility using a trackable shipping method. We strongly recommend insurance for high-value items like Athearn locomotives exceeding $200.

USA - Inspection & Processing:
Allow 3-5 business days after we receive your return for quality inspection.
Refund Information
- Timing: Refunds process within 3 business days after inspection completion
- Method: Original payment method (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, or PayPal)
- Deductions: Original shipping fees are non-refundable. Return shipping is at customer’s expense unless the return is due to our error.
Exchange Process
For exchanges (subject to availability):
- Follow the standard return process above
- Clearly indicate your desired replacement item in your initial email
- We’ll ship your replacement within 2 business days after receiving your return
- You’ll be responsible for any price difference and additional shipping costs
Damaged or Defective Items
If your Märklin or LGB product arrives damaged:
- Contact us immediately at [email protected] (include photos)
- Do not dispose of any packaging materials
- We’ll arrange for a prepaid return label if applicable
- Expect expedited processing for defective item replacements
